The William Patton, Jr. Foundation recognizes that and has a program that is an alternative to formal college or secondary education.

The founder, William Patton, Jr. is a local contractor with over 20 years of experience in the construction trades. He founded the to organization formalize a plan to revitalize distressed neighborhoods and to teach local young people between the ages of 18-24 a construction trade. After the completion of paid training program, graduates will be placed in a construction areas of their interest.
